Today’s sweet project is a DIY fun fold card with two card making techniques: paper piecing and die cutting.

The stars of the card are the adorable images from an exclusive stamp set by Stampin’ Up!, Seasons of Fun.

The set is available to “hosts” of qualifying “workshops.”  A “host” can be any shopper who places a “workshop” order of $150 or more. Paper Piecing Technique

Paper Piecing is a fun way to add color, pattern and interest to stamped images. Not only is it a great option for coloring, it also makes use of small paper scraps. Win! Win!

In the Sled Girl card, the coat, scarf and hat have been paper pieced to coordinate Sled Girl’s fashion ensemble with the card background.

Die Cutting Technique

Die Cutting in paper crafting  is an awesome alternative to fussy cutting. Instead of manually snipping shapes and images, a metal die with a cutting lip is placed on a piece of paper and passed through a special cutting machine. The pressure created by the machine perfectly cuts the paper to shape. You can cut the shape over and over again in little time.

Crafting with the perfect stamp set is now easier thanks to dies that outline crop the floral sprays, and additional dies and overlays.

Die-cutting with Stampin’ Up!’s Shaded Summer was the subject of a recent Friday Facebook LIVE. I shared the measurements and the step-by-step instructions to create two cards, and I shared a peak at a third card crafted with the dies. Stamp, Color, Die-Cut

A Basic White layer showcases the largest image of the stamp set, which was stamped using Basic Gray ink. A touch of color was added using ink from the pad and a Blender Pen.

After die-cutting and arranging on Basic White, a small snip of wood paneling from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper stack was added to ground the flowers. Linen Thread and Matte Decorative Dots add the finishing touches.

Monochromatic Fun-Fold

Old Olive and wood grain showcase the smaller floral spray of Shaded Summer. Two Old Olive patterned papers were selected from the Rich Regals 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper Assortments.

 

 

Layered Die-Cuts

Nothing adds sparkle to a card like Rainbow Glimmer Paper. Here, the overlays were cropped from selected sections of the rainbow paper, and layered atop the solid leaves and flowers in the same color. One simple greeting expresses the sentiment. Early Espresso 1/4″ Faux Suede Trim and Gilded Gems add the pizzazz.

Elegant All Occasion Cards Crafted with Hand-Penned Petals

Hand-Penned Petals is one of the prettiest bundles in the Stampin’ Up! 2021-22 annual catalog, and it was the top pick for Just Stamp team member Gabriela Rodriguez when she volunteered to be Stamper of the Month recently.

A talented crafter who leans to detailed elegant designs, Gaby is one of the newest Just Stamp team member, also known as the Stamparistas. She created a collection of elegant all occasion cards using the bundle perk she was gifted for volunteering to design a a card class to share with the team. It’s an elegant collection.

Hand-Penned is a Distinktive, Two-Step stamp set with coordinating dies that crop both the set images and intricate layers to embellish. Distinktive means the stamp itself produces different opacities in a single stamping. Two-step means images can be easily outlined stamped and colored in two easy steps. No markers, pencils, Blenders or other color tools are needed. It’s ONE choice available to add color.

Together the stamps and Penned Flowers dies make-up the Hand-Penned Petals bundle. The bundle is part of a suite of tools and supplies that includes 12 x 12 patterned paper and faceted Genial Gems.

Stamparista Stamper of the Month

Make a Center Pleat Fun Fold Card that Stands

Four Easy Scores

  • Begin with a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″ piece of card stock. Use the Stampin’ Paper Trimmer to score the long side at 2″, 3 1/8″, 5 3/8″ and 6 1/2″.
  • Use a Bone Folder to fold and burnish the two outer scores (2″ and 6 1/2″) inward. Unfold and flip the card stock. Fold and burnish the 3 1/8″ and 5 3/8″ scores inward.
  • Flip and fan fold the card stock to create a large center pleat.

Alternate Christmas Card

A second Center Pleat Fun Fold card showcases the Penguin Place coordinating punch — perfect for those who don’t like to fussy cut. In place of hand snipping the winter critters, the penguin was stamped and punched. Fashion accessories included in the stamp set were stamped and snipped or punched for added fun.

The Penguin Place Bundle, coordinating paper, and Designer Series Paper used in the alternate Christmas card will be available Aug. 3 when the new Stampin’ Up! holiday mini catalog and Sale-a-Bration promotion are launched.
