What’s the Difference Between a Post and a Page?

When creating content in WordPress, you’ll quickly encounter two main types: posts and pages. While they may seem similar at first, they serve very different purposes on your site.

Understanding Posts and Pages

In WordPress, “posts” and “pages” are two distinct types of content, and understanding the difference helps you organize your site more effectively. Posts are ideal for content that’s updated regularly; think news articles, updates, and blog entries. They’re displayed in reverse chronological order and often invite comments.

Pages, on the other hand, are meant for static content that doesn’t change frequently. Examples include your About, Contact, or Services pages. These are timeless parts of your site that provide foundational information. While posts contribute to the ongoing story of your site, pages help structure it and guide your visitors.
