Old World Charm with Banners for Christmas

By | November 12, 2016

Banners For Christmas

Tartan Plaid from the Warmth & Cheer Paper Stack has to be one of my favorites in the Holiday Catalog. I love everything Scottish —including dogs. Plaid paired with the holiday tradition of mistletoe sweeps me away to Edinburgh, land of the castles, kilts and cattle.

To create my card, I first reached for the red plaid, knowing I was crafting a Christmas card. But the Garden Green and Delightful Dijon spark the same old world vibe, too. I love them all.

Just Stamp Tips

Basic Black as the card base allows the tartans to take the reign. As untraditional as it sounds, Basic Black is just as festive as green and red.

Gold Foil peeking from behind the plaids makes the card royal.

It’s all in the details — the Very Vanilla oval was cropped with the new Stitched From the Heart Framelits.

Stamps and a framelit from Banners for Christmas made this project come together lickety split. For the banner, I inked in Basic Black and Cherry Cobble. For the mistletoe, I inked in VersaMark and used Gold Embossing Powder. The mistletoe was watercolored using Garden Green and Wink of Stella, Clear.

New! Stitched From the Heart Framelits

By | November 8, 2016

I love little details on crafty projects. Details like faux stitching, which once required either dusting off the sewing machine or poking the piercing tool around a template, make a project authentically hand-made.

Stitched from the Heart Framelits make these little details a snap. The framelits will debut in June 2017 in the 2017-18 annual catalog, but Stampin’ Up! is offering a sneak peek and a chance to try them out now. The basic shapes — circles, squares and ovals — are designed with a detailed stitch that adds the little details that pump projects up to the next level.

October Paper Pumpkin is Here!

By | October 18, 2016

Season of Gratitude

I’m so thankful many stampers took advantage of the Buy One, Get One Free Paper Pumpkin offer last month. Everyone is now rewarded with a beautiful kit of thank you shaker cards that are perfect for fall.

If you haven’t made a shaker card before, this short video will inspire you. The cards may look complicated, but they’re not. The right supplies can help you create a shaker in two shakes and your recipient will be thrilled.

If you haven’t tried My Paper Pumpkin yet, it’s always a great time to give it a try. Learn more here about the options to subscribe. My Paper Pumpkin makes a special gift, too.

Cookie Cutter Design for A Cute ‘n Simple Christmas Card

By | October 17, 2016

cookie-cutter-christmas

Cookie Cutter used to have a negative connotation when it referred to the identical look of houses in a neighborhood. Who would want a cookie cutter house when they could add their own personal flair, right?

Now more negativity for cookie cutter designs thanks to Stampin’ Up!’s Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set. This set with coordinating punch makes it plain easy to create one-of-a-kind card designs featuring gingerbread kids, santas, reindeer and other winter friends. The bundle is super cute!

The Double Z-Fold Card

cookie-cutter-christmas-z-fold

Paired with the sweet Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper, the Cookie Cutter Christmas Bundle helped me whip this little holiday card in record time. The bold cheerful greeting was borrowed from the Holiday Catalog’s Wonderful Year set of six.

Just Stamp Tips

Keep a crisp, clean design with a Whisper White, Crumb Cake and Real Red color palette. Perfect Christmas colors, right?

Create the Double Z-Fold card by scoring a 4 1/4″ x 11″ AND a 1 1/4″ x 11″ piece of card stock at 2 3/4″ and  5 1/2″.

Fold and burnish the card stock at the 5 1/2″ score line, then flip and burnish the short 2  3/4″ end in the opposite direction.

Adhere the 5 1/2″ portion of 1 1/4″ card stock  to the short flap. Be careful not to apply adhesive behind the areas that will be exposed.

The measurements for the Candy Cane Lane DSP: one 3 3/4 x 5″ piece; two 2 1/4 x 3 3/4″ pieces; one 3/4 x 10 1/2″ piece.

Adhere the gingerbread kids with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Everything else is adhered with flat adhesive (SNAIL, Fast Fuse, Mini-Glue Dots, Tombow, etc).
