October Paper Pumpkin is Here!

By | October 18, 2016

Season of Gratitude

I’m so thankful many stampers took advantage of the Buy One, Get One Free Paper Pumpkin offer last month. Everyone is now rewarded with a beautiful kit of thank you shaker cards that are perfect for fall.

If you haven’t made a shaker card before, this short video will inspire you. The cards may look complicated, but they’re not. The right supplies can help you create a shaker in two shakes and your recipient will be thrilled.

If you haven’t tried My Paper Pumpkin yet, it’s always a great time to give it a try. Learn more here about the options to subscribe. My Paper Pumpkin makes a special gift, too.

Cookie Cutter Design for A Cute ‘n Simple Christmas Card

By | October 17, 2016

Cookie Cutter used to have a negative connotation when it referred to the identical look of houses in a neighborhood. Who would want a cookie cutter house when they could add their own personal flair, right?

Now more negativity for cookie cutter designs thanks to Stampin’ Up!’s Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set. This set with coordinating punch makes it plain easy to create one-of-a-kind card designs featuring gingerbread kids, santas, reindeer and other winter friends. The bundle is super cute!

The Double Z-Fold Card

cookie-cutter-christmas-z-fold

Paired with the sweet Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper, the Cookie Cutter Christmas Bundle helped me whip this little holiday card in record time. The bold cheerful greeting was borrowed from the Holiday Catalog’s Wonderful Year set of six.

Just Stamp Tips

Keep a crisp, clean design with a Whisper White, Crumb Cake and Real Red color palette. Perfect Christmas colors, right?

Create the Double Z-Fold card by scoring a 4 1/4″ x 11″ AND a 1 1/4″ x 11″ piece of card stock at 2 3/4″ and  5 1/2″.

Fold and burnish the card stock at the 5 1/2″ score line, then flip and burnish the short 2  3/4″ end in the opposite direction.

Adhere the 5 1/2″ portion of 1 1/4″ card stock  to the short flap. Be careful not to apply adhesive behind the areas that will be exposed.

The measurements for the Candy Cane Lane DSP: one 3 3/4 x 5″ piece; two 2 1/4 x 3 3/4″ pieces; one 3/4 x 10 1/2″ piece.

Adhere the gingerbread kids with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Everything else is adhered with flat adhesive (SNAIL, Fast Fuse, Mini-Glue Dots, Tombow, etc).

‘Tis the Season for Crafting

By | October 5, 2016

paisleys-posies-grateful

Technically for this happy camper, it’s always the season for crafting. But after 15 years as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I’ve noticed that the changing weather and the intro of the fall and winter holidays sends us all to the crafting table.

Right now, I have three holidays spread across my crafting table. Plus, the perennial birthdays and gratitude greetings. Armed with my picks from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog, it’s hard to choose which holiday/occasion to craft.

I present a simple gratitude card created with the Paisley & Posies bundle. It is perfect for fall.

Just Stamp Tips

  • Project colors of Early Espresso, Rich Razzleberry and Mint Macaron were selected with the help of the Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper. The pack includes two single-sided sheets with copper foil built right in the designs.
  • I added a hint of trendiness with Copper Embossing Powder on the flower accenting the sentiment.
  • Soft Mint Macaron sheer linen ribbon unites the colors in the Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper with the Early Espresso cardstock.
  • The Lovely Lace Embossing Folder brings texture to the Very Vanilla top layer.
  • Layer edges were softened with the Project Life Corner Punch.

Sweet Treats with Cookie Cutter Halloween

Holiday Catalog Favorites Create Quick & Simple Favors

Stampin’ Up!’s coordinating bundles are the best thing since sliced bread. In the case of the Cookie Cutter Halloween and coordinating Builder punch, these sweet treats were created in a matter of minutes. I literally just stamped and snipped with a punch, then added a short and sparkly sentiment from the Baker’s Box Thinlits. Thanks to must-haves from the Holiday Catalog, the treats look like I had to buckle down at my craft table.

Just Stamp Tips

Purchase the Cookie Cutter Christmas bundle, then add on the Cookie Cutter Halloween stamp set. You will want both, plus you’ll save with the bundle discount.

Nothing adds “WOW” like glitter. The new Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper takes the mess out of adding sparkle with all-over glitter paper. Plus, the spicy color is perfect for the season.

Halloween Night Baker’s Twine includes two spools, each twists a holiday color (Basic Gray or Pumpkin Pie) with Basic Black. You won’t run short; each spool includes 25 yards.

Elegant Paisleys & Posies with Copper Heat Embossing

By | September 27, 2016

paisleys-posies-zoom

With its raised shiny effect, heat embossing adds elegance to papercrafts. Today’s gratitude card is no exception.

I must add that heat embossing — especially with the super cool copper embossing powder in the Holiday catalog — is challenging to photograph. Lighting is either too dark to highlight the shine, or so light that it blows out the non-embossed images.

Still, I like the heat embossing technique combined with the Paisleys & Posies 18-piece stamp set. The coordinating Framelits Dies and Specialty Designer Series Paper are breath-taking. All together, this makes a beautiful set for fall and Thanksgiving.

Just Stamp Tips

Stamping the center panel using the VersaMark was tricky. I broke the process into small steps, stamping and embossing the paisleys, then stamping and embossing the flowers and leaves in separate steps. This made image placement much easier. It’s too difficult to create a pattern when everything is nearly invisible.

To add color to the images, I grabbed a Blender Pen. To create the paint palette, I just squeezed the closed ink pad. Once opened, there’s a puddle of ink. Dip the Blender Pen in the ink and apply small amounts at a time to the image.

The Project Life Corner punch created a simply layer for the Night of Navy sentiment.

Two elegant embellishments, Mint Macaron 3/8″ Sheer Linen Ribbon and Basic Pearls add perfect accents.
