Stampin’ Up! Ultimate Pink Blog Hop

By | October 8, 2017

Hello and welcome to the Second Annual Ultimate Pink Blog Hop.

For many of us, breast cancer has touched our lives in some shape or form. I’ve witnessed my mother successfully battle breast cancer, and I witness my dear friend at the American Cancer Society persistently working to bring people together to fund research, and make sure free information and support is available for those enduring the challenge.

Here’s What I Made

Stampin Up! Ribbon of Courage Close-up

The simple pink ribbon speaks volumes to express support for individuals with breast cancer. Stampin Up!’s 9-piece Ribbon of Courage stamp set includes the widely recognized ribbon in two sizes, hearts and flowers with pretty details, and encouraging words. It’s all I needed to create a simple and pretty greeting card to convey warm thoughts.

Repeatedly stamping the Sending Love and Hugs sentiment in Blushing Bride created a clean background for a Blushing Bride Stitched Circle. Mini and jumbo detailed hearts were heat embossed with gold powder and colored using Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, Powder Pink and Lemon Lime Twist Stampin Write Markers.

A Foil Snowflake, Gold Metallic Thread, and Year of Cheer Specialty Washi Tape add finishing touches to the simple layout.

A Quilted Background for Smitten Mittens Christmas Card

By | October 3, 2017

Stampin Up! Smitten Mittens On Quilt

Here’s What I Made

Smitten Mittens on their own would make an adorbs Christmas card with a heartfelt holiday greeting. By adding a beautiful quilted background crafted with the new Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the red striped patterned paper in the Quilted Christmas 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper, the charm swells. To achieve the puffy, padded effect a quilt takes on after washing, I gently sanded the embossed patterned paper to reveal and enhance the stitching. This technique is featured on page 4 of the Holiday Catalog. Take a look at the Christmas Peace card on the spool caddy. So simply. So festive.

How To Video Tutorial: Center Step Fancy Fold Hello Fall Card With Coffee Cafe

By | September 11, 2017

Center Step Fancy Fold Hello Fall Card with Coffee Cafe

Here’s What I Made

The Center Step Fancy Fold template is a unique presentation for a greeting card. The tall center panel creates a splendid stage for the star of a card—in this case the seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte drink. The Pinewood Planks 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder gives the card base a lovely rustic feel that’s perfect for the season.

Good news! The Center Step Fancy Fold template is easy. Watch the video tutorial for a demonstration on how to score and cut the card base, plus a quick tip on how to add rich color to the deep pinewood plank impressions. Grab the project sheet for measurement details and complete project supplies.

“How To” Pumpkin Spice Latte Birthday Card with Embossing Paste Whipped Cream Tutorial

By | September 5, 2017

Pumpkin Spice Latte Birthday Card with 3D Whipped Cream

Nothing says Hello Fall like a Pumpkin Spice latte with whipped cream. Here’s a paperlicious version to send birthday greetings featuring Stampin’ Up!’s new Embossing Paste to recreate fluffy whipped cream. It’s the perfect topping for the Pumpkin Spice Latte made using the Coffee Cafe stamp set and Coffee Cups Framelits bundle featured in the main catalog. Save money; buy the bundle. Plus, there’s a coordinating holiday set called Merry Cafe in the Holiday catalog. You will want it all!

Here’s What I Made

My sweet birthday greetings for a coffee-fiend friend features a dollop of sweet whipped cream created with Embossing Paste and Dazzling Diamonds. I’ve selected the Early Espresso zigzag pattern from the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper as the backdrop to the Pumpkin Spice latte mug.

I’ve created both a handy resource project PDF sheet and a quick how to video tutorial to show you how simple it is to use Embossing Paste to create 3-D whipped cream on a handmade card. I also share how to craft the mug.

Side Step Fancy Fold Birthday Card Tutorial Featuring Grown with Love

By | September 2, 2017

Side Step Fancy Fold Birthday Card Featuring Grown With Love

This side step fancy fold card is loaded with fun. After sharing a side step card using the Birthday Memories Suite (see it here) in one of my card classes, I received requests for the step-by-step instructions and details. Today I’m not only sharing the PDF project sheet, I also have my first-ever video tutorial for you.

Today’s side step card features the Grown with Love Bundle that includes the stamp set and the Garden Grown Framelits Dies. This bundle was one of the first new products that landed on my wish list when the new Stampin’ Up! catalog was launched. It’s adorable. I also used Stylized Birthday, which is a must-have stamp for your stamp closet. You’ll grab it often when creating birthday cards.

Creating the side step card is simple. Once you give it a try, you’ll want to create lots of scenes.

Bundles are the Best!

By | July 31, 2017

Stampin Up! Lemon Zest

Why Bundles are the Best

Coordination — Bundles take the guesswork out of creating. Stamps and dies or punches are perfectly sized from the start.

Discount — When you buy the coordinating stamp set and dies or punch, you SAVE 10%.

Add the Punch to Lemon Zest

Today I made cards with one of my top bundles in the latest Stampin Up! catalog: Lemon Zest Bundle. This one is a favorite because the whole lemon and leaf images are cropped with a PUNCH. I love framelits and thinlits, but punches are the easiest. No platform, cutting pads, Big Shot … are required.

Here are today’s main tools.

How sweet are the greetings punningly written about this sour fruit? Both items are a MUST. I know some crafters try to squeeze by with just the stamp set or the punch, but I’m here to advise from the start that would be a regretted decision.

I offer more unsolicited advice: Be sure you own the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch. If you don’t, you will want to invest in it for your convenience. With it, you can easily punch the lemon slice, and then further slice that in half with your Paper Snips.

One Bundle, Three Looks

I LOVE a fancy fold, and this Z-fold card is probably the simplest fancy fold in existence. I paired the bright Daffodil Delight lemon with pretty paper from the Petal Garden Designer Series Paper Stack. The pattern is identical to the new Garden Trellis Embossing Folder design.

The leaves were punched from Old Olive cardstock. The sentiments were stamped on Whisper White cardstock cut with the Lots of Labels Framelits.

Lemon Zest Pacific Point Notecard

Pacific Point, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight are a sunny, summer combo. A strip of Old Olive cardstock texturized with the Petal Burst Embossing Folder was slipped behind a Whisper White square cut and detailed with the largest Stitched Shapes Framelit square. The leaves and whole lemon were brushed with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. Unseen, a wee Mini Dimensional adheres the top-most leaf.

Lemon Zest Encouragement Card

A decorator’s tip: Give black a chance! A slim strip of Basic Black punched with the new Decorative Ribbon Border adds punch to this Whisper White card of encouragement. LOVE it! This little border punch  works two jobs: it creates a simple tiny scallop and a pretty eyelet border. This double-sided versatility gives a crafter more value for her money.

This little notecard features two embossing techniques!

  1. The cardbase has been “debossed” to created recessed leaf images with the Petal Burst Embossing Folder.
  2. The lemons and leaves have been “heat embossed” with VersaMark and Clear Embossing Powder to create “real” lemon shine and sparkle.

Again, I used my go-to Stitched Shapes Framelits—a circle this time.

Here’s a peek at the inside of the card.
