Transform a clean card design with gilded gold leafing into a beautiful work of art from the heart in 5 steps or less!

You’ve seen gold accents on pieces of art. Frames sometimes have gold decoration, and sometimes the gold is right in a painting itself. This is the art of gilding, or applying a thin leaf of gold. It’s been used in art for centuries.

Today I’ve taken a simple design with a fun fold and applied gold leaf. This makes a beautiful card to express gratitude. The BEST thing is gilding can be done in 5 steps or LESS!

5 Steps to Gilding Gold on Your Projects

  1. Stamp the image base in a selected color
  2. Stamp the image detail using VersaMark
  3. Apply Heat & Stick Powder
  4. Heat and melt the powder
  5. Add the gold leafing, rubbing off the excess with the Stamping Sponge

This DIY calendar and notes center rests on the desktop to house a calendar, supply of sticky notes and a super cute ice cream cone pen that coordinates with the Sweet Ice Cream theme from Stampin’ Up! Tuck the tools away in the center and you’ll always have your writing materials at the ready.

This beautiful flower pot filled with Christmas Star poinsettias is a lovely gift card holder! It’s made in two pieces to hold an embellished card that slides up to reveal a gift  — card or cash!

The beauty of this template is that you could switch out the flowers and use the card for birthdays, Mother’s Day … any gifting occasion. You could also switch the flowers to snowflakes, animal critters, cookies — any object to suit the recipient.

The finished project can be mailed using an A7 envelope, which requires no additional postage as long as it doesn’t exceed 1 oz. If is does go over, it’s only an additional 47 cents. Tip: Be cautious when arranging the flowers to ensure they fit within the 5 x 7″ project area. If presenting this gift in person, the 6 x 8″ cellophane envelope is another perfect option.
