Hands down. Animals on anything stir my heart. Have you seen the commercial with the dad dog driving a car with his family in tow. Too cute. I always drop what I’m doing to watch.

So it goes with the dog on this card. A big dog wearing a Santa hat with Christmas lights tangled about. Too C-U-T-E!

But wait. Open the card. Oh my gosh! A hamster, a dog, a cat AND a mouse literally P-O-P! I guarantee that if you create this card and send it to your friends and family, they will squeal. Guarantee.

The Pop ‘n Twist fun fold card was the star of Happy Hour recently. I shared step-by-step how to construct the mechanics behind this card. While it seems complicated, it’s not. It is, in fact, easier than it looks.

Stampin' Up! Haunts & Harvest Paper Pumpkin | September 2021

 

Paper Pumpkin—Stampin’ Up!’s monthly subscription service— is my favorite surprise that arrives every month. September’s kit was no exception.

The Haunts & Harvest kit included enough supplies to create 12 treat boxes—4 each of 3 designs. You could take your pick of apple, pumpkin, or jack-o-lantern treat boxes! Plus, the Paper Pumpkin box itself could transform into a vintage wheelbarrow to display your harvest. It created a fun centerpiece.

However, sometimes one doesn’t need 12 treat boxes, right? Great news! Every kit includes an exclusive stamp set, ink spot, and embellishments, which means you can continue crafting with leftover kit supplies or add other supplies to create cards to send.

Keep on Creating with the Exclusive Stamp Set

 

The first alternative has been created with additional card stock and ink — Evening Evergreen, Cinnamon Cider and Basic White. A small length of ribbon and a scalloped label add the finishing touches.

 

A second alternative was created with just an additional half sheet of Basic White Thick card stock. The multi-patterned background was created with snips of the treat boxes. Here’s the video tutorial, which can be also be found on my YouTube channel.

Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie and Bumble Bee are a perfect fall color combination. Using a tried and true technique with baby wipes and re-inkers, I made a custom ink pad to ink up whimsical leaves in beautiful autumn colors. A simple card layout with a macrame texture provide a stunning background for the colorful fall leaves to whisk across.

The baby wipe technique is not new. The results, however, are stunning — so it’s always great to re-visit this  technique that packs a WOW.

Paper Piecing Technique

Paper Piecing is a fun way to add color, pattern and interest to stamped images. Not only is it a great option for coloring, it also makes use of small paper scraps. Win! Win!

In the Sled Girl card, the coat, scarf and hat have been paper pieced to coordinate Sled Girl’s fashion ensemble with the card background.

Die Cutting Technique

Die Cutting in paper crafting  is an awesome alternative to fussy cutting. Instead of manually snipping shapes and images, a metal die with a cutting lip is placed on a piece of paper and passed through a special cutting machine. The pressure created by the machine perfectly cuts the paper to shape. You can cut the shape over and over again in little time.
