Interactive cards are sweet and they are easy!

Sometimes they’re called Spinner Cards, sometimes Interactive, but the big idea is that the recipient gets to interact with the card and make it move. Fun!

Creating an interactive card is easy with Stampin Up!’s new Sliding Star Framelits and the coordinating Shooting Star Stamp Set. Yay! The set includes more than stars. The beehive, queen bee and workers are the choice of the day.

Just Stamp Tips

  • Positioning is the key. Use the framelits as your template to position the inner circle. If there’s a malfunction, try tweaking the position a tad.
  • Ensure there is no foam adhesive blocking the track. I skipped applying adhesive strip along the narrow side perimeter.
  • When trimming the Dimensional into a circle, first snip the hexagon off the sheet instead of pulling it off. Paper snips cut easier when the material isn’t sticky.
  • Have fun creating the design. The framelits and stamp set include a slider for a shoot star and an airplane. You’ll have lots of possibilities.
  • Cupcake Cutouts Framelits include two perfect words for birthday greetings: wish and sweet.
  • Thoughtful Banners offers tons of verbs, nouns and adjectives to create a spunky sentiment.
  • The right adhesive does the job. The Fine-Tip Glue Pen is the perfect partner for the delicate script font of sweet. The pen also works nicely to adhere the tiny worker bees and snipped sentiment words.

  • Inking up and snipping is effortless with the leafy stamp and thinlits die. Both include  a notch to make alignment easy.
  • Sandwich on the the Precision Base Plate for a thorough snip.
  • Once cut, use the Dies Brush to release the intricately cut paper.
  • The Bundle includes two choices for a tree trunk. I chose the slim trunk thinlit for a simply graceful trunk and branches.
  • Birdies facing East or West are a  luxury! Stamp and snip either or both thanks to the thoughtful inclusion of birds facing in both directions.
  • Keeping the design clean and simple is easy to coordinate with natural twine, simple diagonal striped paper and random spritzing with an Aqua Painter and Soft Sky ink for spots of color.

  • Beautiful Branches Thinlits Dies easily cut the intricate petals to add another layer of petals. The thinlits was easy to align and cut using the Precision Base Plate.
  • A trio of pinks adds more depth. Blushing Bride, Sweet Sugarplum and Rose Red created the color variations hydrangeas offer.
  • The Stampin’ Spritzer filled with water muted the ink to resemble watercoloring.
  • A simple ribbon and bow of Melon Mambo Thick Baker’s Twine completes the bouquet.

Check it out! Stampin’ Up! solved the “won’t release my element!” issue with a Precision Base Plate and a new Big Shot Platform. No more long and tiresome poking. Have a look by clicking on the tutorial below.

 

Looks pretty and easy, right?

When the Big Shot and Sizzlits were first introduced, getting clear cuts was painstakingly hard and time-consuming. After properly sandwiching and passing the layers through the Big Shot, you could plan on a bit of time as a threesome: you, piercing tool and cutout. Poking the tiny pieces out was tedious. Intricate Thinlits had the same issues. No more!

 Just Stamp Tips

The Precision Base Plate is a must-have, but note from the tutorial that it should not be used with small dies. They will warp.

For intricate dies, run the sandwich through twice, forward and backward, to ensure a through cut.

The new Big Shot Platform and adapter has been designed to  resist warping and bowing. It is included with all new Big Shot purchases. If you already own a Big Shot, the platform is available on its own.

Use the Die Brush to quickly release elements from the cardstock. No piercing tool needed.

You Can Make a Bright Birthday Card with Birthday Fiesta

Llama with a Hat Spells Fun Times

The Festive Birthday Suite just oozes happy times. The fun llama, the catchy sentiment, the prickly cactus and pretty little flowers combined with the colorful patterns in the DSP mean it’s gonna be a happy celebration. Not only is it a perfect suite for a Happy Birthday card, it’s a perfect suite for us stampers. Stamp Set + Framelits + DSP = SCORE!

Just Stamp Tips

  • Start with the bold serapé stripes on the Thick White card base. In my opinion, the stripes should run horizontally. Cut 5 1/4 x 4″.
  • A Basic Black mat sets off the crisp Whisper White canvas. Cut Basic Black 4 3/8 x 3 1/8″, and Whisper White 4 1/4 x 3″.
  • Heat Embossing makes the sentiment pop. First, ink the entire image using VersaMark. Next, apply Emerald Envy to Fiesta (pad or marker). Last, apply Basic Black to Like There’s No Mañana (marker works best). Sprinkle on Clear Embossing Powder and heat.
  • To create the multi-colored banner, cut four banners (Thick White, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry).
  • Stamp the decorative image on the colored banner pieces for a Papel Picado look. Take note of the banner shape and the decorative stamp. Matching the stamp to the banner is easy; just study the stamp set label.
  • Using a Basic Black marker, ink each letter individually to stamp the banner.
  • Hand snip the sombrero from the DSP and cut a slit for the llama’s ear using an Exacto knife.
  • Adhere the llama with Dimensionals.

Sweet Cupcake and Coordinating Framelits

In the confectionary world of cupcakes, size matters. That’s why the newest Stampin’ Up! cupcake set snagged me at first look. I confess, many cupcake sets have caught my fancy and I had to add them to my collection. Especially when they hooked up with a punch. But mostly they were small.

Sweet Cupcake is different. I LOVE the size, not to mention the wonderful framelits with the Wish and Sweet words. It’s the perfect set for a sweet and quick birthday card. I picked the In Color Sweet Sugarplum and paired it with Early Espresso for a chocolatey cupcake with berry icing. Fun!
